Aligners for Teeth Straightening

Aligners are elastic, transparent trays that are fitted over the entire dental arch. They are similar to the trays used for teeth whitening. Patients can easily put them on and take them off on their own, and the process is completely painless. Unlike braces, they do not need to be worn constantly; aligners can be removed before meals and for teeth brushing.

Indications and Contraindications

Aligners are prescribed by a doctor after a thorough examination. This orthodontic method requires careful preparation, as the trays must be precisely manufactured using computer modeling. Aligners are typically recommended in the following cases:

  • Dental crowding
  • Noticeable gaps between teeth
  • Misaligned or rotated teeth
  • Protruding jaw

Aligners are effective for both minor cosmetic adjustments and more serious bite issues. However, there are certain contraindications, including:

  • Acute periodontal disease
  • Dental calculus (tartar)
  • Neurological disorders
  • Severe chronic illnesses
  • Active tooth eruption (teething)

Advantages of Aligners

Compared to traditional braces, clear aligners are a more innovative technique with several distinct advantages:

  • Aesthetic Preservation: They remain virtually invisible during orthodontic treatment.
  • Ease of Care: Simple to clean and maintain.
  • Oral Health: Eliminates the risk of tooth decay or damage to the mucous membranes (soft tissues) during use.
  • Quick Adaptation: Patients adjust to them very rapidly.
  • Comfort: A high level of comfort throughout the wearing process.

These benefits do not compromise the effectiveness of the treatment. The results achieved are comparable to those of fixed orthodontic appliances. Only in exceptionally severe clinical cases might specialists insist on correction using traditional braces.
